Archeology is the study of man's past by examining the remains of his culture. Each automobile sitting in someone's yard, barn, garage, or under a tarp serves as a window into the history of the car and its previous owners, allowing us to explore the stories attached to it—essentially looking into its soul. This practice closely aligns with what is known as auto archaeology.
As I travel the back roads and byways of Connecticut and New England, I come across many of these fascinating "artifacts". My goal is to document in photos and text the stories behind these vehicles through the lens of automotive archaeology. If possible, I aim to save them from disintegrating into iron oxide dust and place them into the hands of those who will add new chapters to their narratives, whether that means using the car as a donor for another to thrive or restoring it for active use. Sometimes, the cars are still in decent shape, and the owners simply want or need to part with them. In these cases, we assist in putting those cars into the hands of the next conservator.
In essence, I help people sell their classic and special interest cars, preserving not just vehicles but the stories that come with them.
