1996 Subaru Legacy Wagon, 2.5 GT

This car has been in the same family for many years, acting as a daily driver and then a collage car. Last year the son discovered rust along the sills/rockers and was going to work on fixing it but his job kept him too busy to get it done. Now with some family issues, mom is selling the car.

The car starts and runs, but will need a battery and it is believed that the brake lines, which run along the same rusty rocker panels, are rusted as well as the brake pedal goes to the floor. Along with the rusty rockers, the rear hatch handle rusted off,

The flat 4 has 155,000 miles and still runs strong, the automatic transmission shifts through all the gears and moves the car as it should.

The interior is in remarkably good condition with no tears in the seats or cracks in the dash or door cards. The carpets are in good condition too but could use some stain remover and a nice steam cleaning.

The car rides on fairly new General Altimax summer radials in 195/60/R15 size wrapped around a stock Subaru aluminum wheel.

Aside from the rust in the rockers on rear hatch handle, the car is oddly rust free. Wagons seem to be gaining in popularity among the "tuner crowd" and the Subaru is always a favorite. Although not ready to hop in and drive home, someone with even a modicum of mechanical/automotive skills can get the brakes working and the car ready for the road... The rust doesn't affect the overall driveability of the car.

This could be a fun build up for the right person or just a winter beater.
