1973-74 Jaguar XJ12 Saloon
This is a great example of a 1973-1974 Jaguar XJ12, of which only 168 were produced in 73 and just over 4000 were made in 74. The reason this car is an amalgam is because she was built in November of 1973. By US terms, she's a 74, built after October, however, she's registered as a 73, which means that soon after she left the assembly line, she was delivered, purchased and registered, before the end of 1973. Back then, cars were often titled as the year they were registered.
We feel it went through at least a couple of other owners before it came into the hands of the current owner, a member of our local Jaguar club and owner of MotorcarsInc. a Jaguar restoration company.
The car has 60,456 miles on the odometer and we feel this correct based on the overall condition of the car.. We do know that the car was repainted at some point, in it's original English White; the interior was dyed red over what we also feel is the original biscuit leather and the V12 was replaced at some point in time too.
The car is very solid with no rot and very little rust showing through as little dots here and there on some of the body panels. The drive floor does have some heavier rust but is still solid.
The car starts, runs and drives well and simply looks awesome.
The white over red, large, 4 - 2 barrel carbed V12, combined with the flowing classic curves of the 4 headlight Series II Jaguar saloon make this car nearly irresistible. The true dual exhaust sounds nice and rumbly.
She has many of the era's high end options, often found on Jaguars, such as: Air Conditioning (it works!), power steering; power brakes; 4 wheel disc brakes; power windows, electric rear window defogger; intermittent wipers; leather interior, etc.
Although not yet in a position to win any awards, it's in very good shape and can easily be moved back into that condition. She would certainly be welcome at any of our Jaguar Club of Southern New England events.
Take her out on the back roads and let the V12 roar, head out to the theater or dinner in her, or even just a nice drive for a glass of wine.
Ready to get in a drive.
Asking price is $8900 or best offer.
