1 owner, 1968 Chevy Impala Convertible

Purchased brand new by Mr & Mrs R back in 1968 from Dworin Chevrolet in Hartford, the original CT title title says "used" as it was purchased as a demo.

She was bought well optioned for a late 60's era automobile. Power steering, power drum brakes, power windows, power seat, power top. No AC though... Back then the idea was, it's a convertible, why need AC? The numbers matching 327 under the hood is the 275 horse, 4 barrel, high output V8 and only has 61,000 miles. It puts power down through a 3 speed TH350 auto trans and back to a positraction 12 bolt rear diff.

Evidence shows that the car was driven regularly, through at least three seasons but very well cared for.

The interior, in original Teal Blue, aside from a small crack on the dash pad and some minor wear, is a time capsule and in beautiful condition. Under the hood is clean and rust free. All the power options work as they should (the power seat does need a little assistance to move the front up or down).

When Mr R passed away nearly 20 years ago, the car stayed put, in their raised ranch garage. Mrs R would occasionally start her, put new gas in and kept the insurance and registration up to date.

However, as time passed, she started collecting a lot of stuff and the car and the garage became places to store stuff. Mrs R passed away  not too long ago and when they cleaned up the house, they found the paperwork but not the correct keys.

I was commissioned to pull her out of her dusty holding cell and get her up and running. With the assistance of a local classic car specialist (Jon Albert at Joe's Auto Electric) she was recommissioned.

What was once a dusty relic, sitting crammed into a garage, was now out running and driving.

Recent work performed to get her back on the road required replacing the brake master cylinder, a BG oil and gas treatment, oil change, carb and point tune, new battery and new key sets.

She was also deep cleaned, Ozoned and washed/polished back to a beautiful shine. The Teal Blue (L-2 paint code) paint shines almost like new, maybe better in some spots. We do know that there was some minor rust repair done over the rear wheel wells and the right lower front fender and the car repainted in the original color; everything else is original 61K mile condition.

She starts right up, runs VERY strong and you can feel the 275 HP and the reported 350+ lb ft of torque move her easily down the road, the posi rear end chirping under hard acceleration. The other thing you can feel is the 40 year old tires that have been sitting in the same spot for over 20 years. They will need to be replaced. Underneath, she is rot and rust free, with just some minor surface corrosion, expected of a 60K mile car.

This is an original car (aside from paint and wear items), she even has 4 T-3 headlights, that all work.

Everything works on her. Except for the aforementioned tires, she is ready to hop in and drive and totally enjoy this summer with the top down.

The estate's asking price is $27,500.

Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions, to set up a time to inspect her or to make an offer.

Thank you for the interest!
